Larry Drapkin Weighs In On Starbucks Executive's Non-Compete Agreement in Ad Age
October 12, 2009
Labor & Employment partner Larry Drapkin is quoted in Ad Age's article "Former Starbucks Exec Sued for Joining Dunkin' Donuts Coffee Giant" in regard to non-compete agreements.
Larry states that a company's ability to enforce a non-compete may depend upon which state the company is in. He goes on to explain that "[o]n the one hand, companies are attempting to protect their commercial and competitive advantages, including intellectual property and trade secrets. On the other hand, in many states there are public-policy considerations that are intended to protect the ability of employees to work and take other jobs, and not curtail employment opportunities."
