Su Ross Appointed Chair of District Export Council of Southern California
Susan Kohn Ross, partner in the Los Angeles office of Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp (MSK), has been appointed Chair of the District Export Council of Southern California for the term 2014 - 2015.
The District Export Council of Southern California (DECSC) assists small and medium-sized companies in the region to export their products and services worldwide by sponsoring export-related events and workshops and counseling companies of all sizes with their exporting endeavors. The U.S. Secretary of Commerce appoints the organization's members for the purpose of expanding U.S. exports and the DECSC operates in cooperation with the U.S. Commercial Service inside the Department of Commerce.
In her role as chairwoman, Ross will be charged with overseeing the execution of DECSC's various tactical initiatives and planning for the long-term success of the organization, including efforts to expand U.S. exports which contribute greatly to the health of the U.S. economy.
"I'm very excited and honored to accept this appointment and look forward to collaborating with my colleagues in various industries throughout Southern California to promote greater understanding of how U.S. businesses can increase their global exports," said Ross. "My predecessor, Guy Fox, did a fantastic job in his role as Chairman. I hope to continue his good work leading DECSC in 2014 and 2015."
At MSK, Ross concentrates her practice in the areas of customs, international trade, transportation and import/export law. She also represents domestic and foreign clients before governmental agencies that regulate and influence international commerce. Ross earned her J.D. from Southwestern University School of Law. She is a prolific writer and frequent speaker on trade issues, and plays an active role in many bar and trade associations, including the American Association of Exporters & Importers and Women in International Trade.
