Legal Expertise
James D. Berkley is Special Counsel in Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp’s Litigation Practice Group. Jim’s practice focuses on civil litigation with an emphasis on copyright, trademark, and related matters involving music, film and television, video games, and online content.
Prior to his admission to the California Bar, Jim worked as a non-attorney in MSK’s intellectual property and litigation practice areas, where from 2007 he held the title of Senior Research Analyst. In that role, Jim specialized in case-specific factual research and analysis, contributing to successful MSK teams on a wide variety of matters.
Jim has a distinctive background that informs his practice, including a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from UCLA, positions as a researcher and case writer at Harvard Business School, and research work involving technology and contemporary society. Jim passed the July 2022 California Bar Examination after qualifying through the State Bar of California’s Law Office Study program. Jim brings his prior experiences to his role as attorney, and delivers unique value based on his diverse skill set.
